“Aha” moment
Each photographic experiment is a process of finding a new “aha” moment. My process is always evolving and you can learn all about it.

Works of shape and colour, with nothing in the physical world to easily compare. Abstract images are most interesting as it frees us from constraints of what we readily recognize.

Perfect for home or office, Doug's artworks create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Explore Collection with Foil & Paper photographs!
Plain paper is folded or formed into different patterns to create beautiful and eye-catching images. Some works use holographic and iridescent paper, which reflects light and creates magical visual effects. This collection shows how simple materials can turn into stunning art.
Most of the pieces in this collection were found in thrift stores, garage sales, or given by friends. Many are old candy dishes, creamers, candlesticks, or items with angled or cut surfaces. You’ll also see beads from jewelry like necklaces and bracelets. Anything that reflects, bends, or plays with light — as long as it’s transparent — catches my eye and becomes part of the art.

Intentional Camera Movement

This collection is created using a technique called Intentional Camera Movement. Instead of holding the camera still, the artist moves it while taking the photo. This creates soft, flowing images that feel like paintings. Colors and shapes mix together, showing nature in a calm and creative way.

Water drops, oil drops, food coloring, and paint — any fluid can become part of the artwork. Mixed, boiled, or sprayed, these materials are endlessly shapeable and have the ability to bend and reflect light in amazing ways.
Geometric lines and patterns often feel pleasing to the eye. Humans are naturally wired to notice shapes and patterns, even when we don’t fully understand what they mean. This instinct comes from our need to recognize forms for survival. Seeing a face or an animal in a cloud, for example, is just the brain trying to find a familiar pattern.

Photographing nature in all its variety is one of the most rewarding areas of macro photography. Subjects include insects, plant seeds, snowflakes, rocks, and much more. Nature offers endless inspiration and wonder — a rich source of beauty, detail, and discovery that continues to inspire photographers around the world.
